William “Bill” Sydney Bryan, age 71 passed away January 5, 2020. Bill's actions spoke louder than–and often instead of–words. Known for his kind heart, he'd do anything for anyone who had a need but kept it all quiet. He said he loved you by cleaning your gutter, fixing your car or giving you a ride.Bill wanted the best for everyone he met and was a welcome companion because he was a fine listener who loved to laugh and never judged you. Everyone knew Bill as a hard worker but easy-going and happy-go-lucky with a sly smile that said a lot. It didn't bother him to break a rule he found foolish or pointless. Through the landscaping company he started in 1985, The Green Machine stood out as reliable and trustworthy, a rarity in that line of business. He was accomplished in many things and deeply appreciated an honest compliment. He adored his wife Debby. Married for 49 years, she was truly the love of his life and together they weathered many storms and shared the joys of becoming both parents and grandparents. Although he enjoyed golf and tennis with his close circle of friends, he found no greater joy in sports than watching his three sons in action. He was their #1 fan.Bill attended David Lipscomb from seventh grade through through college and was a longtime member of Belmont Church. The family deeply appreciates his close friends who walked him through his brief bout with brain cancer. They were heroes to him.Bill is survived by Debby, their three sons Ellis (Rachael), Max (Shannon) and Marshall (Emily), 8 grandchildren, his brother Eddie Bryan and Sister Martha Bryan Bills-Maynard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Mildred Bryan. His memorial service will be held in the chapel at Belmont Church, 68 Music Square East on Friday, Jan. 10. Visitation: 11am-1pm, Celebration of Life, 1pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Alive Hospice, 1710 Patterson St., Nashville, TN 37203.
