William Kitchell

March 3, 1916 — August 12, 2015

Dr, William “Bill” G. Kitchell passed away on Wednesday August 12th he was 99 years old. Dr. Kitchell, and his wife Connie, were part of the Valley community for 66 years. He was a decorated Navy Pilot in WWII was an optometrist in Weslaco for 40 years. He served his community as a Rotarian, with 32 years perfect attendance, Skipper of the Valley Sea Scouts and a Commander of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. Bill was an avid sailor and photographer, and was a founding member of the Laguna Madre Yacht Club. Dr. Kitchell is survived by his wife: Connie Kitchell; children: Kathy Allphin and John F. Kitchell; his grandchildren: Mark Allphin, Scot Allphin, Jeff Allphin and JW Kitchell; and three great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by a son: Kerry Kitchell. The memorial service will be held Wednesday August 19, 2015 at the Fountains of Franklin (TN) at 10:00 AM, with military honors provided by the United States Navy.
