William Smith

January 3, 1942 — February 8, 2022

Brentwood

William Edward Smith was born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island on January 3rd, 1942 and died on February 8th, 2022.  He leaves behind his beloved wife Joanne Smith and children Andrea Blair and Mathew Smith and their spouses Robert Blair and Tracy Smith.  In addition to his children his grandchildren that brought him so much joy, Alexandra Blair, Olivia Blair, Cameron Blair, Taylor Smith, Joshua Smith and Grace Baldree will forever miss their “Pop-pop”.  His siblings will forever miss him, Madeline Smith Rousseau, John Lawrence Smith and Mary Jane Smith Lefebvre.

He graduated from Woonsocket High School, Brown University (BA) and St. Louis University (MBA) as well as serving for his country as an honored Captain in the United States Marine Corps. serving our country in the Vietnam War.

Once stateside, he had a long-established career with Monsanto Chemical Company and helped others seeking better career opportunities at Future Works, before retiring in December of 2001. In his retirement he volunteered to impact youth futures through the First Tee of Coastal Carolina as well as serving on the board at Brunswick County, NC Senior Center.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted on March 7th, 2022 at Harmony at Brentwood Lounge at 5:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Alive online would be greatly appreciated as the angels there helped all of us get through this.
