Wilma Jean Amerud, nee Howard 80, passed away peacefully on Jul 30, 2017. Born June 7, 1937 in Perry Township, OH to the late Mary Lillian Gilmore and Donald Lewis Howard, Jean grew up with a love of music and played the violin and enjoyed singing. She had a beautiful Alto voice which she shared every Sunday with her church choir.Jean traveled the world as a military spouse and settled into a long career as a civil servant at Fort Hood, Texas, from which she retired in 2008. Following retirement, she moved to Tennessee to be near family.She had a loving heart and spent her free time giving to her community in many ways. Her strong faith in Christ lead her to volunteer as a Hospice visiter for over 20 years, both in Texas and here in Tennessee . She also shared her faith and spirit as she mentored young girls as a Big Sister. She was very active in the Ashland City United Methodist Church and the local Senior Center. She was known and loved by many.She is predeceased by her sister, Barbara Moore and her son, Richard Farmer. She is survived by her children, Randy Farmer and wife Monika of Ashland City, Rhonda and husband Roy Salas of Ashland City, and Fred Amerud and wife Roiya of Lavaca , AR; grandchildren Krista, Stephen, Julianne, Jonathan, Ryan, Misty, Lisa, Justin, Sean, Robert, Donald, Connor and Emily and 18 great-grandchildren.The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support in many heart-felt forms from too many people to name individually, but including: Centennial Hospital Doctors and Staff, the Alive Hospice Center Staff and Volunteers and for the wonderful support given to us all by Dr. Tom Binford of the Ashland City United Methodist Church and his wife, Carolyn and the many friends who took time to visit Jean over the past weeks.A Memorial Service, led by Dr. Tom Binford, will be held at the Ashland City United Methodist Church, on Saturday, 12 August, 2017 from 3 to 5 pm.
