Brady Everett Gilland (Brad), 75, of Nashville, Tennessee passed away with family by his side at Centennial Medical Center on Thursday July 26 th , 2018.Brady was born March 5, 1943 in Henderson, North Carolina to the late Brady Ezra Gilland and Hazel Roberts Gilland. After high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps and served during the Cuban Crisis and the Vietnam War. Following his time in the military, he worked as a self-employed contractor, but devoted his life to serving others in his community including: volunteering with the North Las Vegas Police Department, The American Red Cross of Nashville, and Bellevue Volunteer Fire Department where he served for over 10 years and achieved the rank of Assistant Chief. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and his brothers Danny Gilland and Durwood Gilland.He is survived by ex-spouses Barbara Gindlesperger and Marie Smith Gilland and his four children Maurita "Gidget" Stauss, Stephen Gilland, Brandi Gilland and Colleen Gilland. He is also survived by his sister Betty Anne Gilland Hardcastle; his grandchildren Scott Stauss and wife Kelly, Kaitlin Stauss, Toby, Cy and Mase Lunsford; and his great-grandchildren Jameson and Richard Stauss.Pallbearers will be Randy Gilland, Jerry Gilland, Terry Gilland, Chris Gilland, Scott Stauss, and Ben Lunsford.Arrangements are as follows:Visitation will be at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens Pavilion (9090 Highway 100, Nashville, TN, 37221), on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 from 2:00-5:00 pm.Visitation will also be held at Cedar Creek Free Will Baptist Church (3050 Cedar Creek Rd, Greeneville, TN 37743) on Friday, August 3, 2018 from 1:00 pm-3:00 pm with funeral service at 3:00 pm. Interment will immediately follow the service at the cemetery adjacent to the church.Flowers may be received at Cedar Creek Free Will Baptist Church on Friday, August 3 from 11:00 am-1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bellevue Volunteer Fire Department scholarship fund. Contact family for more details.
